Crackhead Directory ?

Today I herd one of the funniest things I have ever heard. I have a co-worker Sarah Seeney who I find to be funnier than most stand up comics that are on television or touring the comic circuit. Early this morning a question was ask by her if anybody knew of a good plumber?
A few people commented on the question and then she hit us with, “they need to have a crack head directory.” Now you may be wondering what is so damn funny about that but if you’re black like me and grew up in, near a ghetto or know someone who is or a recovering crack head, then you would have a better understanding of why that was so damn funny. Now I am a man who laughs at a lot of stuff and I have been entertained by this woman for a few weeks.
Thank God for her humor!

Think about it for a second, “a crack head directory.” If you knew of a crack head and needed some work done around the house or garden or doing little odds and ends so they can make a few bucks, everybody is happy in the end. Think about this too, a crack head had and may still have skills. They were mechanics and engineers, hair stylist, bankers, plumbers, repairmen ECT. The bad part about it as we pay them for their services they may smoke the money away and not give or spend money taking care of themselves or their kids. Damn shame, however their is always hope. Everyone needs to earn a wage and if this is a way to help them see their self worth again then I really do not see the problem anylonger.

The solution is on the way:

After the work is completed we can let them know that we love them and certainly God loves them. Maybe that will help them see their self worth and we get to view them as human beings instead of people who made a bad choice in life. We all made a trip down the road only to find recovery. I am sure a crack head want to stop using drugs, however chasing that high needs to be diverted to something positive.

(Calling all churches to get involve. They are Gods children too!)

This is was funny and humbling all at the same time. I know of family members and friends who were lead in the life style of using drugs, including my own father. Some have fallen by the waist side of societies ills and felt the stress. They saw no other alternative to escape their realism and peer pressure snuck in and changed their brief history.

So I want to thank her for bringing that statement to my conscience. I am thinking about starting a movement for the churches in the urban neighborhoods to adopt a person who has been down on their luck and hire them. Give them hope and a wage and most of all let them know that Jesus and God loves them and we pray for their speedy recovery back into this thing called life.

Self worth is all we have left. For those who think they no-longer has it who may read this. I am here to tell you again, The Lord loves you.
