My three favorite players of all time

My three favorite players of all time!
What can I say? When I was a kid all I dreamt about was being
Julius “Dr.J.” Erving, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers. I had the posters and went to see a man fly on many occasions. I remember some of the older guys in my neighborhood of North Philadelphia, 23rd and Sergeant St. used to round up the young boys and take them down South Philly. Patterson Ave. was our destination while we rode the loud subway act wild waiting for Mo Cheeks to dish the ball to Dr. J.
The man who wore the number 6 had a profound effect on me as a young man. I enjoyed watching him play but what struck me even more is was the way he conducted himself off the court. He was always cordial and well spoken, representing himself and his family. The Afro he wore was to throw the opposition off but his moves transcended the game in such a way that I just knew there would be no one else after he was gone from the game.
I remember when the city of Philadelphia gave him a retirement parade on JFK Blvd. I skip school that day and caught the train from Delaware to go back home and watch the man I respected so much. I was inches away from the men, whom took his talents and utilize them with his God given abilities. The end was inevitable or so I thought, because I was starting to pay attention to another player who was just as good and fly just as high.
Air Jordan was already making his impact felt and he had the respect of my hero and that was the blessing I needed. Michael Jordan conducted himself in the same manner. It was scary to see him play at a level, that people are still talking about him. Jordan was so damn good he made the best players look slow and lethargic. I wont get into the Jordan story too much because its well documented that he is the Greatest of all time! Period!
There’s another young cat that has been in the league for 10 years who plays like Doc and Air, but he is simply known as Kobe! No one in the hood wants to give him his props. However they do know the boy can flat out play. He had some problems with his former teammate and that bullshit that happen in Colorado. But he is a killer like Mike. Say what you want but he will cut your damn throat to win. You cannot teach that it’s born in you. Doc had it but with smoothness. Jordan had it in the worst way and now Kobe is the torchbearer of what I would consider my three favorite players of all time. So there you have it my selection, you can debate it all you want just like i did with my friends when I was a kid. Check the stats, check the similar styles and flair and I am sure you will agree.
