MILLIONS MORE MARCH

In 1995 you’ll twist your fist has you dance to the music. United we will stand, yes divided we will fall, together we can stand tall. Brothers that try to work it out and get mad, revoke, revive, and tell them we are super-bad. Brother gonna be a victim of his own circumstance. Sabotage, shell shocked, rocked and ruled the day of the life of a fool…
Teach a man how to be father, to never tell a woman he can't bother. You can't say you don't know What I'm talking' 'boutBut one day ... brothers gonna work it out
Chuck D- Leader of the group Public enemy.
Chuck spoke those words fifteen years ago, five years pre-Million Man March. He foretold about the event that was going to take place in 1995. Millions of black men came out to support the movement. CSpan and Bet air the coverage all day and it was a site to behold. I supported it then and I semi support it now. I am looking forward to the speakers but in these days in times what will really come out of it as a group of people from diverse backgrounds come together. I didn’t really see a lot of change from ten years ago. I believe it has gotten worse and will continue to do so as long as our men degrade our women on television etc. Our men need to grow up and take a stand for something instead of looking for the next deal or shoe contract. Individuality is the key word in my opinion. But who am I right to voice an opinion on so many. That’s the importance of my blog to express my self. I can say what I want and not have to be penalized for it. I questioned my self and ask do we really need to have another march? What did the last one do? Will this really change anything? Time will tell.
On the eve of the start of the Millions More March that was once again headed by one of my hero’s, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. I love what he is doing, however for the last five years Tavis Smiley formally of BET and now host of his own PBS show has been doing it in black churches every February. The minister was a part of that panel and gave a riveting speech that I recorded on CD and put to music and still enjoy listening to.
I pray that God will put a hand on every person watching and listening to the addresses of some of America’s top speakers and intellectuals tomorrow. We need it really bad; a miracle has to come from this. I believe we didn’t listen the last time this movement was formed. I ten years older and a lot wiser and I see things so different, maybe someone else will too. I have faith; I really do because with God all things are possible. SO this is a shout out to my man Chuck D. who continues to fight the power with his music. He’s not about the dance and the crunk and the booty shakers. He’s about shaking you up and making you realize that we will become a "victim of our own circumstance," if we don’t get it together.
Peace
